Ian McLaren MBE, Director

Ian leads the core consulting operation at ProTeez and is currently concerned with ProTeez’s anti-piracy and coastal security projects. A retired Royal Navy Warfare Officer and a former Director of BlueFinger, Ian has a deep experience in Monitoring, Control and Surveillance, and has published papers on this and similar related subjects.  Ian is also a guest lecturer at the Naval Warfare School on the subject of EEZ management.

Michael Thresh, Director   Deceased in December 2017

It is with a sad heart that ProTeez has to report that Michael recently passed away in Dorset County Hospital. Michael was diagnosed with Cancer of the Liver in October 2017 and regrettably the strain was extremely aggressive. Despite Michael's massive inner strength and beautifully positive attitude the Cancer beat him resulting in an abrupt conclusion.

He is sorely missed by ProTeez and its colleagues and friends.

Wally Murison, Senior Consultant

Wally has recently joined ProTeez having retired from the Hong Kong Police, where he spent most of his 31-year career in the Marine Branch. Wally has a wealth of experience in coastal security in a most demanding, diverse seaway and an exceedingly busy port area; and also major event security on the water.  His skills also include fast small boat operations; optical and radar surveillance of the coastal environment; plus the planning and supervision of projects and respective equipment purchases. 

Graeme Griffiths, Communications Engineering Consultant

Graeme brings to ProTeez his extensive practical experience of UHF, VHF and HF communications. Graeme specialises as a classic Radio and Electrical Engineer, and of late has worked extensively with AIS both ashore and afloat, interfacing the network into IT Systems and into radars. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation and is the Chairman of their North West Area Group. 

Barry E T Harris MBE: Surveillance Specialist

During a distinguished 25-year long career in the British Army, Barry acquired specialist elecro-optic surveillance expertise from Special Operations, covert intelligence and counter-terrorism activities mainly on the Northern Ireland border. Barry then joined the commercial sector, initially in the electro-optic industry and was a prime mover in securing supply and training contracts with UK Ministry of Defence, US Department of Defense and similar organisations of other countries on behalf of international defence contractors. He also has experience of working in the Middle East.

Brian Smith: Civil Engineering & Infrastructure Specialist

With both an MSc in Construction Management, and a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, from Cranfield University Brian will provide advice on the Infrastructure and Surveillance Towers carrying the sensors and communications.. He also advises on upgrading or replacement of the Central Command HQ and Standby HQ..As both a retired Major in the British Army and as a Civilian Brian has installed and successfully completed a large range of important Projects in the Middle East Region from Afghanistan and Iraq, to Oman and UAE.. Brian has been a qualified Civil Engineer for 23 years and is a Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers.

Dr Amin Einea: Civil Engineer & Structural Specialist (US Citizen)

Dr Amin is a Professor in Engineering from the University of Nebraska. He can bring his wealth of Academic experience were required to help steer Tower and Infrastructure challenges to a successful conclusion.
